Environmental Justice

How we Work

Social Justice

Social justice is one of the national values and principles of governance enshrined in the constitution of Kenya 2010 in Article 10. Article 19 of the Constitution of Kenya avers that the purpose of recognizing and protecting human rights and fundamental freedoms is to preserve the dignity of individuals and communities.

We empower smallholder farmer grassroots movements so that they are able to stand for their rights to food, water, land rights, and environment.  We also build their capacity to engage in challenging and influencing the creation of an enabling policy environment.

Environmental Justice

Environmental justice is the fair treatment and the involvement of all people without discrimination in the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies. Environmental justice aims at improving and maintaining a clean and healthy environment. The key elements of environmental justice are access to information, public participation, and access to justice in environmental matters. As Growth Partners Africa, we are committed to ensuring that no groups of persons bear unequal environmental burdens and that all people have an equal opportunity to participate democratically in decision-making processes in matters concerning environmental laws.

Our Vision and Mission

Our Vision and Mission

We see a future where people in Africa are growing and eating their own healthy food, water, and managing their environment responsibly and sustainably.

To achieve our vision, we work with both local and international strategic partners to empower communities of smallholder farmers at the grassroots in matters relating to their right to food, water, land, and environment.

Our Passion

Our passion for Socio-economic justice and equitable rights for all, especially the marginalized poor is what drives us. We value working with like-minded partners, in areas of biodiversity, ecological approaches and environmental safety for a sustainable future.

Who we are

Growth Partners Africa is a non-profit organization that works with partner organizations both locally and internationally, to promote food sovereignty, environmental justice, and social transformation. We partner with civil society organizations to strengthen the capacity of smallholder farmers to use ecologically sound and sustainable agricultural practices. We also empower smallholder farmers to participate in policy formulation towards enhancing access and fairness in the food systems.

"But man is a part of nature, and his war against nature is inevitably a war against himself."
